Ruth 4:1-22

Redeemed

Because Ruth has claimed Boaz as her Kinsman Redeemer, Boaz is in a position to do what ever is in his legal right to do. His first course of action is to contact the one man who has first right to Naomi's property, and the right to marry Ruth. Mind you, like Boaz, Christ too needs us to claim HIM as our Redeemer before HE can step in to purchase us. A price must be paid to GOD, for us, and our price is death for sins committed. Jesus would pay the price and Redeemed us, without HIS fulfilling the requirement we would have no way to be redeemed. So too, Jesus purchased the World through HIS punishment, and sacrifice. Yet it was not the dirt and property Jesus wanted, but rather a bride. He gave all so that we could be HIS bride. Boaz is not wanting the land, he already owns much, but he wants a bride. So he is willing to do what he must, which in turn will redeem Namoi, and ultimately give her an heir that may sit at the gate as a member of the righteous.

Ruth 3:1-18

Ruth's Redemption Assured

We see in todays study that Naomi is somewhat of a matchmaker, doing her best to manipulate things that will put everything in order. It is not a bad characteristic to have, especially in a male dominated World where women are property and seldom have rights. Yet, in Israel, GOD made provisions for the poor, the lots, and the forgotten. In Naomis case, that provision it the law of the Kinsman Redeemer, and Naomi understood it, and knew she had to use a law put in place by what GOD HIMSELF to set everything in place so that the p[rovision would be honored. She cannot force Boaz to do naything, but she has made sure that Ruth is in the best position so that the proviosion GOD created would be used properly.

Ruth 2:14-23

The Kinsman Redeemer

Sometimes it’s not what we do, but rather what we are willing to do. This is an old saying, and in Ruth and Boaz's situations it is all together true. In today's study we see Ruth taking the advice of her mother-in-law ,Naomi, by heading out to the fields to glean for food. In those days, anyone who was destitute and out of sorts had few options, and this is why GOD set up the law of gleaning. Ruth was a willing student of Naomi in how she should present herself in her new home of Israel  Boaz, a highly respected, and wealthy man, saw Ruth work hard and respected what she had done for Naomi. This is where we pickup our study in chapter two of Ruth.

Ruth 2:1-13

Love at First Site

Marriage is a gift from GOD, but it's certainly not the only gift that comes from HIM. When we look at the day Ruth and Boaz were allowed to meet one another, what we learn from that will apply to all the gifts God gives us. If God wanted to give you stewardship of some important resource of his, how would he go about giving you that gift? If God wanted to give you a good friend who would be part of your life and you part of theirs, how would he go about giving you that gift? If God wanted to call you into a ministry of significant influence on people's lives, how would he go about giving you that gift? In seeing how Ruth and Boaz were given the gift of each other, you will learn something about the way God gives all the other kinds of gifts that he gives.

Ruth 1:6-22

Two Widows Journey to Bethlehem

Ruth is a poignant story of faithless disobedience, that leads to death, sorrow, bitterness, and then loyalty and finally redemption. It's my prayer that you will realize that if an inconspicuous Moabite peasant woman could achieve royalty for her descendants in Israel, then anyone can gain Salvation. The story of Ruth contains secrets to the Kingdom of Heaven that point directly to the work our Savior, Jesus Christ, would one day accomplish for us all on Calvary. Ultimately God will reward Ruth's faith and obedience by making her the great grandmother of King David and a place in the genealogy of Jesus that Matthew records in his Gospel.

Ruth 1:1-5

“Leaving God's Blessing's Behind”

The book of Ruth is a beautiful love story of a woman who left home and country to follow a woman she loved dearly. Ruth was a widow, who loved her mother-in-law so much she told her,

“Entreat me not to leave you, Or to turn back from following after you; For wherever you go, I will go; And wherever you lodge, I will lodge; Your people shall be my people, And your God, my God.
Ruth 1:16

It is only one of two books named after a woman, and the only one named after a Gentile. A Gentile who would become a Hebrew, and be placed in the genealogy of her greatest descendent, Jesus Christ. Ruth is true story that gives us a powerful lesson in redemption. A lesson that points to the love of GOD for HIS creation. A love so powerful that HE would give HIS only begotten SON so that we may all have everlasting life.

Ruth Overview

Overview

No Scripture gives a better picture of a Redeemer than the story of Ruth. In and of itself, Ruth is a love story involving a woman who married into an Israelite family living in her country of Moab. She is blessed to have a widowed mother-in-law she would grow to love like her own mother. Even after her husband dies, she clings to her mother-in-law, following her to Israel. In a land that is not known for being kind to Moabites, she finds acceptance and love. That would be enough to write a novel and even have it adapted into a story for the big screen, yet there is much more.

This story is more than a simple love story of a man and a woman who meet and fall in love. It's also about Naomi, the mother-in-law. Naomi and her husband walked away from GOD's protection and trusted in their own understanding, they had little faith in their GOD to care for them in difficult times. In this story we learn about GOD's love for those of us who are in need of HIS loving forgiveness and how HE made a provision for us to get back in HIS good grace and find eternal peace and happiness. For Naomi and Ruth their redeemer was Boaz, and for us Boaz is a type of Christ,. They both fulfilled all the requirements of the law needed for us to get back into GOD's good grace.
